August 2022 Minutes

The LaMoure City Council met on Monday, August 1, 2022 at the City Council Room.  Present were Clint Hoggarth, Steve Sandness, Greg Pedersen, Brad Nogosek, Stuart Good, Art Hagebock, Bob Flath, Heath Schaffer Gina Haugen and via phone conference, Brandon Reber

Mayor called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm.

The Mayor recommended the appointment of Stuart Good to the City Council to fill his vacated seat.  Pedersen moved to approve Good, Sandness seconded the motion.  Polled vote: all yes. Motion carried.  The Mayor then had Mr. Good take the Oath of Office.

Minutes from July meeting: Nogosek moved to approve.  Pedersen second.  Polled vote: all yes.                                                                                                                                                                                 Financial Report: Pedersen moved to approve. Good second.  Polled vote: all yes.                                                                                                                                                                                                  Bills: Nogosek moved to approve. Sandness second.  Polled vote: all yes.

Engineers Report:  water tank work has started, hope to fill the tank next week and hope it holds the water.

Councilperson Gentzkow joined the meeting at this time.

Budget:  The 2023 Preliminary Budget was presented and discusses.  Pedersen moved to approve the preliminary 2023 budget. Gentzkow second.  Polled vote: all yes.  Motion carried.  Budget hearing will be held on Monday, September 12 at 5:30 pm.

Old Business:  The Mayor recommended the appointment of Ron Paul as the City Forrester.  He will receive $1000 per year for the position.  Pedersen moved to approve the appointment.  Good second.  Polled vote: all yes.  Motion carried.  Discussion continued on clean-up of properties as well as having property owner clean up trees and bushes that are interfering with visions on streets and alleys.

Permits:  LaMoure Foods – Off sale license application – Pedersen moved to approve. Sandness second.  Polled vote: Good-yes, Pedersen- yes, Sandness-yes, Nogosek- yes.  Gentzkow abstained.  Motion passed.                                                     Valley Wealth Advisors – concrete pad- Gentzkow moved to approve.  Sandness second.  Polled vote: all yes.                         Dale Peterson – concrete pad- Sandness moved to approve.  Pedersen second.  Polled vote: all yes.

Other Business: The Mayor congratulated the LaMoure American Legion Baseball team for winning the state championship.  They did a heck of job and we are all proud of their accomplishments.  Congratulations to Landon Piehl on being named MVP of the tournament.
