August 2024 Minutes

The LaMoure City Council met on Monday, August 12, 2024 5:30 pm

Present were Clint Hoggarth, Lori Gentzkow, Trigg Baker, Stuart Good, Art Hagebock, Bob Flath, Brandon Reber, Ron Paul, Greg Pedersen, Jen LeBlanc, Brad Nogosek, Mike Vogel, Gina Haugen, Dominic Hanson and Connie Bitz.

Meeting called to order at 5:30.

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Visitors: Mike Vogel representing the LaMoure Fire Department looking to switch to a fire district from being a city entity.  This move would allow them the opportunity to raise more money and be eligible for additional grants.  Vogel left the meeting at this time.

Minutes: Gentzkow moved to approve the minutes. Pedersen seconded.  Polled vote: all yes.

Financial:  Baker moved to approve the financial report, Nogosek second. Polled vote: all yes.

Bills:  Pedersen moved to pay the presented bills, Gentzkow second.  Polled vote: all yes.

Musland property tax application: Pedersen moved to approve a payment in lieu of taxes for a period of five years, Good seconded the motion. Polled vote: all yes.  Motion passed.

 

Legal Matters:

-Airport Protection Zone Ordinance: The zoning committee has met to start discussing the update to the airport protection zone and looked at following the Washburn, included the engineer for the airport authority.  Will be like what the city will be proposing.  Must have a public meeting 15 days after the notice,  September 5th at 5:30 pm in the city council room.   After that meeting, the public would have input then the committee would finalize the ordinance.

 

Engineers:

-Fix of the tank will start on the 26th.  Just working on the final details on the change order.

 

Police update:  16 calls for service.  MOIC conference is coming up the 26-29.

  • Hanson requested committee assistance to update the ordinances for law enforcement to match century code and intent of the council.

 

Permit: LeBlanc for a concrete pad: Pedersen moved to approve; Baker seconded.   Polled vote: LeBlanc abstained; all rest yes. Motion passed.

 

The Mayor gave congratulations and a thank you to the LaMoure Baseball Program for doing an amazing job on the state baseball tournament.  Thank you to Greg and to all who helped make it successful.
