Dahlstrom Funeral home has a long history in LaMoure, opening their doors in 1986. Current owner, Dani Dahlstrom along with her son Adam, have continued the success story for the past 13 years. Dani is a Certified Preplanning Consultant and Licensed Preneed Insurance Agent in the State of North Dakota. Adam is a 3rd generation Licensed Funeral Director in ND, SD and MN. Cole Frank is also a Licensed Funeral Director in ND, SD and MN.
The first priority and mission of these caring and dedicated professionals is to provide arrangements for the deceased and their families. Dahlstrom Funeral Home honors the past and appreciates the opportunity to serve the families of LaMoure and surrounding areas.
When making arrangements, whether it is for at need, or the difficult but important step of pre-arranging ones final wishes, the LaMoure location has a comfortable selection room with a variety of caskets and a vault display. They also offer selling and setting of monuments & markers, and will meet with you at their LaMoure funeral home to help assist with the design and type of marker. The business services the LaMoure, Oakes and Milnor area.
Dahlstroms have presented Preplanning seminars at the Senior Center and the Assisted Living Center in Oakes. They encourage preplanning, which allows you to make unhurried, informed decisions that can offer peace of mind when the time comes. Adam has visited with Confirmation students to help inform and educate them about Funerals and Funeral Homes. He has also had students come in and job shadow with him, which Adam welcomes and encourages anyone to do that might be thinking of a career in funeral service.
The Dahlstrom Funeral Home team are active members of the LaMoure Chamber Retailers, Oakes Chamber, Milnor Chamber, ND Funeral Directors Association, and National Funeral Directors Association.
In 1959 LeRoy and Evelyn Good began operations as a bulk oil delivery service. At this time they were considered employees of Standard Oil. In 1976 they purchased the bulk location from Standard Oil and Good Oil Company was founded with headquarters out of their home office. In 1981 the company was incorporated.
Over the years their three sons (Craig, Tracy, and Stuart) joined the family business and they all remain today.
In 1984 it was decided to purchase the Verona Oil Company (Art's Super Service) from Elaine Tang. This location had a service station and offered bulk delivery.
In 1985 Standard Oil became Amoco Oil.
In 1989 the old service station in Verona was tore down and a new convenience store was constructed. This enabled us to expand the services and products that could be offered.
In March of 1996 a fire broke out at the LaMoure bulk plant. A storage shop was lost in this fire along with two bulk trucks, motor oil and many tools.
In October of 1996 LeRoy passed away after a short bout with Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease).
In February of 1999 a Convenience Store was opened on the east edge of LaMoure along Hwy 1.
After Amoco Oil was purchased by British Petroleum, Good Oil Company became affiliated with the Tesoro brand in 2001.
Evelyn retired from the family business in July of 2012.
