The LaMoure City Council met on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 5:30 pm. Present were Clint Hoggarth, Lori Gentzkow, Stuart Good, Greg Pedersen, Steve Sandness, Vince Watkins, Brad Nogosek, Dominic Hanson, Ron Paul, Art Hagebock, Bob Flath, Craig Bierman, Hope Haberman, Brian Rubenstein, Robert Hernandez, Tom Kulik Gina Haugen. Also present via conference call Kim Radermacher and Brandon Reber.
Meeting was called to order at 5:30 pm
Minutes from April & Tax Equalization meetings: Gentzkow moved to approve. Good second. Polled vote: all yes. Financial Report: Pedersen moved to approve. Gentzkow second. Polled vote: all yes. Bills: Gentzkow moved to approve. Sandness second. Polled vote: all yes. Pedersen moved to approve The LaMoure Chronicle as the official newspaper of the city. Gentzkow second. Polled vote: all yes.
Visitors: Brian Rubenstein, Robert Hernandez and Tom Kulik were present to represent themselves on a building permit application for a house. Pedersen moved to approve the permit, Good second. Polled vote: all yes. Brian, Robert & Tom left at this time. Brad Nogosek joined the meeting at this time.
Craig Bierman was present to represent the lake board. They have 88 spots, can have up to 3 campers/spot. $500 with $300 per additional camper. They currently have $73,000 with expected income of $59,000. They are putting in 2 new toilets with a 75% grant from game and fish.
Hope Coleman was present from the park board. The pool account has $183,193.00 with a goal of 1 million. Have not heard back on latest grant application. They are in the process of hiring summer maintenance help. Held the pint-sized prom event and have a classic car show coming up during alumni weekend. Coleman & Bierman left at this time.
Engineers Update: nothing new at this time.
Legal matters: Work continues on the apartment building eviction.
Committees: One applicant for dump ground position. The dump ground was discussed. Nogosek moved to approve the hiring of Dale Peterson at the dump ground for $15.00/hour. Gentzkow second. Polled vote: all yes. A camera will be installed to monitor activity at the dump ground. Hours will be Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3 pm to 7 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm.
Speed bumps were discussed. Schaffer is to research and install speedbumps on 2nd Street northwest near the daycare and one on 1st avenue southwest near the baseball field.
Purchase of a laptop and docking station along with the needed equipment for the auditors office was discussed. Watkins moved to approve the purchase, Pedersen second. Polled vote: all yes.
Cellphone policy has been referred to the personnel committee.
Public Works: Expressed concern with the no parking zone on 2nd street near the school
Permits: Park – shed over irrigation equipment- Pedersen moved to approve, Gentzkow second. Polled vote: all yes. Bob Flath – shed – Sandness moved to approve. Pedersen second. Polled vote: all yes. Kindelspire – roof – Pedersen moved to approve, Sandness second. Polled vote: all yes. Hesby – gazebo and fence move – Gentzkow moved to approve, Pedersen second. Polled vote: all yes.
