The LaMoure City Council met on Wednesday November 13, 2024 at 5:30 pm in the City Council Room.
Present: Clint Hoggarth, Lori Gentzkow, Jen LeBlanc, Greg Pedersen, Stuart Good, Brad Nogosek, Ron Paul, Brandon Reber, Gina Haugen
Present via conference call: Trigg Baker, Kimberly Radermacher
Meeting called to order at 5:30 pm.
Minutes: Pedersen moved to approve the presented minutes, Good seconded the motion. Polled vote: all yes.
Financial Statement: Gentzkow moved to approve the presented statement, Pedersen seconded the motion. Polled vote: all yes.
Bills: Nogosek moved to approve the presented bills, Gentzkow seconded the motion. Polled vote: all yes.
Tower with the repeater: Mayor Hoggarth and Councilman Baker suggest the city take over ownership from LaMoure County. Baker moves to write a letter to the county to take over the tower. Pedersen second. Polled vote: all yes. Motion carried.
Engineers Report: water tower report – water balance test was done in the last meeting, the tower passed this test that states there was no water loss. Now they need to certify NSF for potable water, there is a covering that is being considered.
Sales Tax Ordinance change: The finance committee presented an updated sales tax ordinance that adds one percent to the city sales tax for the purpose of infrastructure and street repairs. Gentzkow made a motion to approve the first reading of the ordinance. Good second. Polled vote, all yes. Motion passed.
Permits: Dollar General store permit was reviewed. Good moved to deny the permit due to the effect it could have on the future of the airport. Pedersen seconded the motion. Polled vote, all yes. The building permit was denied. LaMoure Foods and The Bullpen Bar & Grill liquor license renewals. Good moved to approve, Baker second. Polled vote: Gentzkow abstained, all rest voted yes. Licenses were approved. Gaming permits have been issued to the American Legion for turkey bingo and the Happy Seniors Club for a raffle.
Other: The Mayor congratulated the Loboe football team on their great season and wished them luck at the state championship.
